Giving Mona Lisa a run for the money

It was a flurry of excitement, laughter and joy at the Padang Bola in Taman Titiwangsa as at least 1000 people from all walks of life converged to celebrate the unveiling of the Malaysia Book of Records’ BIGGEST portrait collage of Malaysian smiles through the 1Ummph 1Smile 1Malaysia campaign.

Standing at an enormous size of 33 by 75 feet, the portrait collage boasted approximately 19,200 miniature pictures of people showcasing their best smiles in true Malaysian spirit. With the enormity of photo collage size, a representative from the Malaysia Books of Records had measured and officially certified the 1Ummph 1Smile 1Malaysia portrait collage as the biggest ever in Malaysia to be created.

The 1Ummph 1Smile 1Malaysia campaign was a collaborative campaign by BOH and Media Prima Radio Networks for Malaysians to do social good by lending a hand for the less fortunate in the simplest manner possible – through a heartfelt smile.

The campaign went on for a little more than a month, and Malaysians were invited to submit a photograph of a smile and upload it onto the 1Ummph 1Smile 1Malaysia photo gallery on the Facebook fan page. The public was also given the opportunity to nominate their favourite smile that will receive RM 5,000.

In addition to that, in the true Malaysian spirit of giving, the country could also nominate their favourite NGO to receive RM 10,000 from BOH Plantations.

Following the unveiling of the Biggest Portrait Collage, Majlis Kanser Nasional (MAKNA) aka the National Cancer Council was named as the most favoured NGO by Malaysians with the highest number of nominations. Representing MAKNA was Pn. Farahida Mohd Farid, General Manager, who was present to receive the donated sum of RM 10,000 by BOH’s CEO, Caroline Russell.

The best picture that garnered the most nominations went to Angeline Tan for her infectious and charming smile that could warm the hearts of many. Angeline walked away RM 5,000 richer and was in seventh heaven for beating thousands of entries to emerge as the chosen smile.
